PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) are mixtures of up to 209 individual chlorinated compounds known as congeners. There are no known natural sources of PCBs; they are either oily liquids or solids that are colorless to light yellow and have no known smell or taste. Some PCBs can exist as vapours in air.

PCBs are hazardous to human health, are primarily toxic to the liver and are considered a probable carcinogen. Virtually all PCBs are used for their cooling properties because they do not readily burn or conduct electricity, and only boil at extremely high temperatures. In addition, PCBs do not readily react with other chemicals.

Krytiuk Specialty Contracting has the specially trained hazardous materials team to work with you to decontaminate and dispose of PCBs. Once we have determined the nature of the contamination we will choose a plan of action and use solvents specifically manufactured for that contamination. Our field staff has the experience and training to use the necessary personal protective equipment and decontamination methods to abate PCBs safely and in a timely manner.
