Gregory Kucher

Gregory was born and raised in the Drumheller valley of the Canadian Badlands where his family has settled for generations. His great-grandfather, Frederick Smith, was the first and last coal miner at the Midlandvale Coal Mine and his family lived on the beautiful McMullen Island, now a day use area on the way to the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology in Drumheller, Alberta.  He and his brother, Grant, were the last generation to reside on the island which now boasts a commemorative sign where the home once stood.


Gregory was appointed a Commissioner for Oaths for the Province of Alberta in 2008 and a Notary Public in 2017.

Awards & Recognition

• Granted armorial bearings (coat of arms) under the Royal Prerogative of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2010.
• Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce and granted the postnominal FRSA.
